Nana Addo resumes campaign on Monday

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has resumed campaigning ahead of the party’s October 18 national delegates’ congress. After the overwhelming 81percent votes he received in Sunday’s super delegate’s congress, Nana Addo and his campaign team say they are poised to get the final endorsement from the 140,000 delegates. The two-time presidential candidate will also embark on a 10-day tour of the country to thank delegates for the resounding victory they gave him. The Upper West Regional capital, Wa, will be his first destination before moving to the Upper East Region. Nana Addo’s spokesperson, Mustapha Hamid said his boss is bent on leading the NPP in the 2016 general elections. He said the campaign team has only five weeks to convince the 140, 000 delegates to vote for Nana Addo. The party leadership has so far brushed off pressure to allow Nana Addo represent the party without any contest because of his emphatic win in Sunday’s congress. Nana Addo will have to face off competition from Alan Kyeremanteng, Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Francis Addai Nimo. The other contestant Joe Ghartey has bowed out of the race.
