CHRAJ boss to be dragged before Parliament

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh Dompreh has served notice that he will drag the Commissioner of the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) before Parliament. Lauretta Vivian Lamptey has been accused of spending thousands of dollars over a period of three years on a rented apartment at the AU Village and also ordering the renovation and redesign of her official residence. Annoh Dompreh, who is a presiding member of Parliament’s Special Budget Committee, says the use of $180,000 on rent for the CHRAJ boss is unacceptable. He told Citi News, it is imperative for Ms Lamptey to be probed by Parliament. He explained that Parliament’s Special Budget Committee has an oversight responsibility on the activities of CHRAJ therefore, it is their duty to investigate the matter to allay the fears of Ghanaians. According to the MP, Ms Lamptey has on several occasions been invited to appear before the committee because they already have some reservations about her in terms of her attitude. Annoh Dompreh pointed out that the amount spent on the CHRAJ boss’ accommodation is taxpayers money which was taken from the consolidated fund. He therefore implored the chairman of the committee to call a meeting immediately .
