CHRAJ boss accused of wasting $180,000 on rent

The Commissioner for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Lauretta Vivian Lamptey, has been accused of spending $180,000 on rent. A document cited by Citi News is claiming that since Miss Lamptey’s appointment three years ago, she has refused to occupy her official residence which was formally occupied by retired CHRAJ boss, Justicex Emile Short. According to the document, Miss Lamptey has rather opted to stay at the AU Village at the cost of $4,500 per month. It also revealed that the CHRAJ boss has been ejected from the AU Village after the expiration of her 2013 tenancy and is currently living at one of the best hotels in Accra where she pays $450 daily. The document further accused her of working from the hotel instead of working from her office. Meanwhile, Citi News checks have revealed that for over two years, Miss Lamptey has failed to distribute 20 official Toyota pickups donated by Danida to other regional CHRAJ offices. Over the weekend, Financial Analyst, Sydney Casely-Hayford on Citi FM’s the Big Issue called for the dismissal of the CHRAJ boss describing her as incompetent.
