Deputy Commissioner
at the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Joseph
Akanjoluer Whittal, has denied claims that a staff of the commission has been
arrested by the BNI over the Commissioner’s housing scandal. Media reports had
it that Sonny Eric Adinyira was picked up by the BNI a week ago for questioning
over some financial issues, which Whittal says have nothing to do with CHRAJ.
He described the report as one of many media speculations that reflect badly on
the Commission’s work and mandate. He said the victim is not a staff of the
commission rather a staff of the controller and accountant general
on secondment to CHRAJ. He said Adenyiria has been absenting himself for some
time, but his absence and the BNI’s involvement cannot be tied to his unit. Meanwhile,
Deputy Commissioner of CHRAJ, Joseph Whittal has denied rumours of a frosty
relationship between the CHRAJ boss, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey and her staff. MP
for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Ano Dompreh who has petitioned the President for the
removal of the CHRAJ boss for financial abuse, also alleges that the head of
the anti-graft agency has a strained relationship with her workers, including
her two deputies. But Whittal said the claims are baseless.
