Sagnarigu DCE appeal for attitudinal change in waste disposal

The District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu district, Alhassan Mohammed Surugudoo has appealed to residents of the district to change their attitude towards the disposal of refuse to help curtail the flooding situation in the area. He noted that indiscriminate disposal of waste in the community is the cause of the flooding and it needs concerted effort to address the situation. He also attributed the perennial flooding in the area to an engineering defect in the construction of the major drain in the area hence the inability for water to flow properly through the gutters. The DCE was responding to issues raised by some resident of Kalpohini on Fiila Day Break News after they mounted a road blockage yesterday to protest over the perennial flooding coupled with what they described as insensitivity of city authorities to their plight. The DCE however revealed that the assembly is taking steps to address the situation. He described as unfortunate the behavior by the residents yesterday. He called on the residents to follow the due process in getting their grievances solve that resorting to agitations.
