Deputy BA minister accuses media for insistent attack on gov’t

The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Samuel Justice Agyei has accused the media of being against government as if the media was in contention with government. The Deputy Minister was speaking at the opening of a three day workshop for Media Network on Social Accountability. According to him, the media as the fourth realm of the state find itself in a position where it is entrusted with the unique duty to encourage and push for national development by dissemination and education of citizens about the achievement of government. The workshop is to equip the networks members drawn from the Upper East, Upper West, Northern and the Brong Ahafo regions with the requisite skills to demand accountability on budgetary allocation from duty bearers and also to create citizens awareness on budgeting at the district level. The Deputy Minister however commended the Ghanaian media for making remarkable strides in the dispensation of information and educating the public on government efforts in building a better society for all. He therefore advised media practitioners on the need for outermost circumspection to be exercised to give true meaning and prominence to the dispensation of press freedom.
