The
Manager of World Vision Ghana in the Savelugu-Nanton Municipality, Mr. Kingsley
Dohzie is saddened by the inability of the organization and stakeholders to
reverse an increasing trend of students failing the annual BECE exam. According
to him, attempts by World Vision and various stakeholders in education over the
years to reverse the poor trend has proved futile. Mr. Kingsley Dohzie made this revelation at a sensitization forum
organized for opinion leaders and parents from some selected communities in
Nanton. The forum which was organized by BIBIR-GHANA,
a local non-governmental organization (NGO) with interest in child health and
education in collaborating with World Vision is implementing a mobile Library
project in five selected community schools in the Savelugu-Natong municipality.
The objective of the project is to introduce reading clubs in community without
such clubs and revive existing ones in those communities. Speaking at the
forum, executive Director of Bibir-Ghana, Joseph Osei Charles charged parents
to invest in their wards education since they are the future leaders of the
country. He also assured the people Bibir-Ghana’s commitment in ensuring
quality education in the area. He said among the objectives of the organization
is to improve the quality of education among children in underprivileged
communities in the northern region.
