Tamale Metro Assembly improves Kukuo sanitation

The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has begun clearing piled filth in the entire Kukuo electoral area. The Assembly is also fumigating dirty surroundings and clearing overgrown weeds around public toilets in the Kukuo community. This followed angry residents of Kukuo’s earlier threat to sue the TMA over insanitary conditions. They accused the TMA of neglecting its duties and exposed them to cholera and other communicable diseases. They also raised alarm on a dilapidated HIPC public toilet facility which serves hundreds of residents there. They described the facility in its current state as a death trap and called for its immediate renovation. Spokesperson for the Concerned Kukuo Citizens Association, Alhassan Sheriff commended the TMA for taken immediate steps to improve their health. He denounced the earlier legal threat and anticipated that the TMA will sustain its efforts. Meanwhile, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Abdul Hanan Gundado told Citi News the exercise was an ongoing one. He said Kukuo was not neglected and reassured residents there of his administration’s commitment to improve their general wellbeing. Abdul Hanan Gundado implored residents in the metropolis to keep their surroundings clean. He also advised residents in the metropolis to desist from open defecation to avoid cholera and other communicable diseases.
