Newly sworn-in Majority Leader of Parliament, Alban Kingsford
Sumana Bagbin, says parliamentarians need to work hard to earn the respect of
the people they represent in the House. He is concerned about the seeming lack
of rules governing activities in the house, which he noted, has also become a
concern to some MPs. Addressing the House at an emergency sitting yesterday, Mr.
Bagbin wants the MPs to give meaning to the title “Honorable” and he is
hopeful the adoption of a code of conduct will regulate activities and conduct
of members. Pledging his support and that of his colleagues to the new leader
of the House, Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu however, challenged Mr.
Bagbin to be courageous and champion the course of Parliamentarians. He said
the MPs lack the requisite resources to enable them effectively perform and
keep the executive in check.
