Residents in Bimbila in the Northern Region
are asking for a reduction in the hours of the curfew imposed on them. The
Ministry of Interior, about four months ago, placed a twelve hour
curfew on the Bimbilla Township because of a deadly shooting which led to the death of
the overload of the town, Naa Dasana Abdulai Andani II. The shooting was
triggered by a disagreement between two chieftaincy factions over where to bury
the late chief of the town, Nakpaa-Naa Salifu Dawuni. The curfew
lasts from 6:00pm to 6:00am. Some of the residents expressed satisfaction with the curfew but called
for an immediate review of the time. Some also says the curfew is affecting
business activities, hence the need to review the curfew since there is now
relative calm in the area.
