Interior
Minister, Mark Woyongo, has urged security agencies in the country to help deal
with the widespread corruption in Ghana and worsening security in West Africa. Mr.
Woyongo said it was time security agencies vigorously got involved in
the campaign to eradicate corruption in the country. Addressing a cross section
of all security agencies under his Ministry in Takoradi, Mr Woyongo said
revelations of massive corruption at the National Service Secretariat (NSS)
show politicians are not the only culprits in corruption in Ghana. The Ghana
Police Service, The Immigration Service, The Prisons Service, Narcotics Control
Board, Ghana National Fire Service are some of the agencies under the Interior
Ministry. The Interior Minister also called for extra vigilance to check
worsening security situation in the West Africa sub region. He said these
situations make possibility of an influx of guns and amunition into Ghana, very
spectacle.
