In
a bid to prepare ahead of the deadly Ebola virus, the Tamale Metropolitan
Assembly has set up a taskforce to ensure the city deals with the virus in any
possible outbreak. The Metropolitan
Chief Executive, Abdul-Hanan Rahman Gundado who is leading the Taskforce,
coordinated by the Metropolitan Director of Health is expected to educate,
inform and provide services to people in the unlikely event of an outbreak.
Mayor of Tamale, Abdul-Hanan Rahman Gundado told Fiila News Saaka Alhassan
“they are monitoring issues keenly”. Meanwhile the Metropolitan Director of
Health is expected to appear before the assembly to brief the house on the
composition of the Taskforce. Ghana has since recorded a total of 112 suspected
cases, all proved negative after undergoing series of medical examinations. The
Ebola outbreak has killed more than 4,500
people across West Africa, including 2,200 in Liberia.
