The
Northern Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the Northern
Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to furnish the party with details regarding
the use of the facility by the NDC for its regional executive vetting on Sunday.
In an official letter written to the Northern Regional Coordinating Director
intercepted by Fiila News, signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the
NPP, Sule Salifu stated that the party takes serious
exception to the use of the Northern Regional Co-ordination Council as the NDC
Regional Secretariat for the vetting of its aspirants on Sunday the 1st
November, 2014. According to the letter of the NPP, the regional director of election
of NDC, Tanko Rashid-Computer on Monday 3rd of November purported to
have indicated in an interview on a sister radio station in Tamale that the
party had paid for the facility before using it. On Monday, the NPP issued a statement raising
a number of concerns regarding the use of the RCC for the NDC personal gains,
hence condemning the act. The NPP alleges the facility was used free which is
illegal since is a state property which shouldn’t be used for such party
activities. The Party in their letter is therefore requesting the RCC to
furnish it with details of payment by the NDC to enable them cross check.
Meanwhile, the regional director of election of NDC,
Tanko Rashid-Computer in an interview indicated that they had followed the due
processed in acquiring the facility but however declined to accept whether
financial commitment was part of the process of acquiring the facility. He
condemned the NPP for being mischievous describing their propaganda as a lazy
way of politicking.
