8 injured, 3 cars burnt in Wa clashes



Violent clashes in Wa in the Upper West Region over a parcel of land, have left eight people injured and several properties destroyed. According to ASP Edmond Nyamekye, Police Public Relations Officer for the Upper West regional command, 21 persons have been arrested in connection with the violence. The Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana and the heads of the various security services in the region have been engaging the heads of the two factions to allow peace to prevail. Having been Ghana's Ambassador to Egypt at one point in his political career, the minister said violence was never the way to resolve disagreements. He appealed to the feuding factions to let peace prevail. Meanwhile, security personnel in the Wa township have promised to keep the peace in the area. Three cars, a house and a number of motorbikes were burnt in the process.  The two factions Jejediyiri and Dondoli have been on each other’s throat until Monday, November 17, when the issue escalated.
