The
opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is targeting nine seats in the Upper East
Region in 2016. Out of 15 Parliamentary seats, the NPP can only boast of two
seats in the region. In 2012, the NPP succeeded in unseating two top NDC MPs,
thus Hon. Moses Asaga and Hon. John Akologo Tia. Moses Asaga loss the Nabdam
seat and John Akologo Tia was defeated in the Talensi constituency. The NPP
Upper East Regional Chairman, Adam Mahama says his administration is targeting
nine seats in 2016. Among the targeted seats according to Adam Mahama include
Bawku Central, Bolga Central, Navrongo, Chiana-Paga, Zebila, Garu and Timpani. The
Upper East Regional NPP Chairman advised all the major actors in the political
arena to be civil in their discourse.
