Former
President Jerry John Rawlings has accused government appointees of opulence and
show of power and charges president John Dramani Mahama to clean up his
government to boost public confidence. He says some appointees are engage in
opulence at the time when some Ghanaians are going through economic hardships.
Speaking at the University of Education Winneba where he was awarded an
Honorary Degree yesterday, Mr. Rawlings challenged the appointees to act in a
manner that restore public confidence. Meanwhile, the former President Rawlings
also believes acts of indiscipline by Ghanaians are the source of the
challenges we are facing. He said many are quick to zero in on the almost
desperate economic circumstances we find ourselves in and blame government for
not doing much. He said government is hugely responsible for the economic
challenges of the day and should always be ready to accept the challenge and
work toward social and economic sustenance
