60 participants graduate from a six months long smock weaving training



A total of 60 youth including men and women in the northern region have graduated from six month training in smoke weaving, designing and business management skills. The training which was conducted by the evergreen smock weaving centre in connection with the Centre for National Culture Smock Weavers Association was funded by Covet. According to the director of the evergreen smock weaving centre Alhaji Sualisu Zakaria, the program was organized to reduce the rate of unemployed youth in the northern region by way of equipping them with the necessary skills and resource to start their own business. in his address the representative from the national board for small scale industry Mr. Haruna Mohammed, urged the youth to show case the talent that have being acquired during the training and as well serve as role models to the youth in their society and the nation at large. He stated that it gladdens his heart to see women participate in the program as smock weaving was seen as a major trade for men in the north. In the Regional ministers address, graduates were urged to be much cautious of their pricing as bad pricing may result to bad business which can go a long way to collapse their business. They were as well asked to resort to social media to advertise their products to the whole world rather than abusing it. An appeal was made to their donor partners and other benevolent organization to support them to be able to bring up more of such program for the youth to benefit in betterment of their lives. The graduates went home with a certificate of honor and a startup capital for the beginning of their business.
