Gulkpegu Naa urges traditional rulers not to incite public against victims of sex scandal

The Gulkpegu palace has urged the chiefs and religious leaders of  in Tamale not to incite people against victims of the recent sex scandal that went viral on social media. The Secretary of the Gulkpegu Palace, Mohammed Rashad in a press conference today said comments by prominent people that seek to incite the public against the victims must stop saying such comments could result to people taking the law into their own hands. The secretary says despite the ladies bringing the name of Tamale into disrepute, residents should be circumspect in their attempts to address the issue. According to him, the ladies at this stage need the support and counseling of residents and not condemnation, calling for their immediate reintegration into the society since undergoing such a psychological trauma. Mr. Rashad says the situation should be seen as a wakeup call to traditional and religious leaders to come together and fight against the moral decadence in the society. They have been growing number of moral decadence in the Tamale metropolis which has been attributed to the irresponsibility of some parents. The proliferation of unrelated cultures to the metropolis ranging from cyber crime to pornographic videos as well as homosexual activities among the youth have become a matter of concern to traditional and religious leaders as well as parents. The secretary however appealed to the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Protection to investigate the matter and find ways of assisting the victims as a matter of urgency. He also asked religious leaders to preach against the dissemination of the pictures to serve as a disincentive to the architects of the propagation of the pictures. He therefore denounced earlier pronouncement suggesting the banishment of the victims from the Metropolis.
