Residents
of Kalpohini in the Sagnirigu district have mounted a road blockage in the area
to protest over the perennial flooding in the area coupled with what they
described as insensitivity of city authorities to their plight. The residents
who numbered over hundred demanded to see the District Chief Executive and kept
logs and wreckages to prevent commuters in and out of the Kalpohini community.
Their decision was motivated by yesterdays down pour which rendered some of
them homeless. Some peeved residents who spoke to Fiila News accused city
authority of the lackadaisical attitude to the drainage system in the area.
According to them several calls on city authorities to solve the situation has
fall on deaf ears. The residents however declined suggestions by our reporter,
Saaka Alhassan to adopt communal labour in the community since the situation is
of their own interest. But in an interview with the District Chief Executive
for the area, Alhassan Mohammed Sorugudoo he stated that measures are put in
place to address the issues facing the people of Kalpohini hence the need for
the people to side with him. He went on the urge the residents for their
cooperation for the betterment of the people and the district as a whole.
