NCCE trains staff on ICT

All district and regional offices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) have been equipped with modern tools to upgrade their data gathering, processing and storage systems. As part of the Commission’s paradigm shift, internet facilities have been set up in the offices to enable staff overcome global challenges. It is for this reason, 300 selected senior officers of the NCCE across the country are undergoing three weeks intensive capacity training in Tamale. The participants are taught how to use Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools to process data, source information on the internet and share their expertise with the masses on social media platforms. Speaking to Newsmen on the sidelines at the opening ceremony, Chairperson of the NCCE, Mrs. Charlotte Osei said the intervention sought to strengthen staff capacity on how to use modern tools to deliver on their mandate in a more efficient manner. She anticipated that the staff will take advantage of the training to broaden their knowledge on effective communication, community entry strategies, report writing and how to use ICT to deliver services in line with best practices. She was also hopeful the staff will be acquainted with the dynamics of interacting with major stakeholders who are active on social media platforms. According to the NCCE Chairperson, the programme was sponsored by the European Union (EU) with resource persons drawn from the University of Ghana, Stratcom Africa and IPMC. On health matters, she says the NCCE had deepened its collaboration with the Ministry of Health to educate the masses on the deadly Ebola virus.
