Alhaji
Mohammed Dawood, the man alleged to have aided Nayele Ametefeh to transport
cocaine to the UK is expected to appear before a court on Thursday. State
prosecutors are expected to seek his remand while investigations into the case
continue. A source at the Bureau of National Investigations, who disclosed this
to the Daily Graphic, said three Lebanese arrested in connection with the case
have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for possible
deportation. The suspects, Abdulla Mustrah, Mourn Taafar and
Charbel Nasr were handed over to the GIS after it was discovered that they did
not possess the requisite immigration documents to be in Ghana. A US citizen,
Faisal Khadar has also been released after investigations revealed that he was
lawfully in Ghana on a family visit and had nothing to do with the cocaine
scandal. Another suspect, Paa Kwesi Acquah has however been granted bail but
sources say the rest are still in Police custody. They
are Abiel Ashitey Armah, an Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Regional Integration; Theophilus Kissi of the Research Department
attached to the VIP Lounge at the KIA, and Abubakar
Ahmed, a civil servant among others. Alhaji Mohammed Alamid Dawood was arrested for
allegedly aiding Nayele Ametefe and her two friends to use the VIP lounge of
the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra, to transport cocaine. The
suspect, who is also known as Alhaji Sani Dawudat, was arrested at the KIA at
about 8: 30 pm last Sunday shortly after he arrived from Lagos. Nayele
was busted at the Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom after about 12.kg of
cocaine was found in her hand luggage. She has pleaded guilty
to all charges levelled against
her.
