The
Public and Community Relation Officer of the Northern Electricity Distribution
Company (NEDCo), Alhaji Mohammed Siam has revealed that plans are far advance
in resolving issues related to power outages in the Tamale metropolis. At a media briefing, he noted that the
company has embarked on project such as the replacement of a 43 kilometer
stretch of underground cables, the upgrade of 22 transformers and replacement
of 19 others. He added that there has been an upgrade of 500 communities in the
metropolis under the 50-projects initiative worth a million dollars. Alhaji
Siam further noted that three substations have been constructed in Tamale, Wa
and Sunyani to help boost voltage capacity in those areas. The projects which
aimed at reducing the power outages experienced will not only ensure reliable
power but also efficient and quality service delivery to their customers. A
passionate appeal was therefore made to residents to exercise maximum restraint
and stop incurring their wrath on staffs whenever there is a power outage.
