A
total of ten members have been ordinated by the Bethel Congregation of the Presbyterian
Church of Ghana in the Northern Region. The service which saw a huge number
coming to grace the occasion from all the three regions of the North, was led
by Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Martey and Assisted by Rev. Dr. Samuel Ayetey-Nyampong.
The Presbyterian Church has been known in recent time for being an active
partner of successful government in nation building. To both its members and
the general public, it has provided Education and Health care delivery and also
done more in Agricultural to ensure food security especially in most deprived
communities in the country. In an address presented on behalf of the Regional
Minister, Alhaji Haruna Limuna, leaders of the church were urged to consider
not only the spiritual aspect in preaching the gospel but also the material and
temporal needs of the ordinary Ghanaian such as food, water, schools and health
facilities to supplement Governments efforts to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals. The minister stated factors that brought about conflicts
especially land and chieftaincy issues. He finally urged all to give peace a chance
for various developments in the region.
