Fusheila Community in serious need of Food

A farming community under jatong Dashei electoral area in the East Gonjo district of the Northern region Fusheila has its residents in severe need of food. The residents who are mostly farmers are unable to afford fertilizer for their farm lands in order to get good yields hence the cause of hunger in some households in the community. A visit to the community indicates that residents faces a lot more problems besides hunger some of which include poor road network, unavailability to portable drinking water, school, electricity  and health care services among others. In an interview with the chief of the community Naa Sulemana Nindow whose household is also in that situation, stated that most pressing need is how to feed the family and to take care of the health needs of his wife who has been sick for more than four months until the situation normalizes. School pupils in this community collapse at school due to non-availability of food in their household for days and another student lost her life due to the inability of his parents to renew her health insurance card to seek health care. Fushiela which is about 30min drive from Tamale town see its residents commute 200km to Sankpalla the nearby village to seek health care. The community has a total population of 372 and most residents now resort to selling their animals to feed their family. Speaking to the assemblyman for the area Hon. Inusah Hamza Lansah stated that to earn a living a day is a great challenge to residents in the area hence the need for support from organizations and other philanthropist to help resolve their predicament.
